Next Grant Funding Research Meeting – Nov 9th
Are you involved with a Bow Valley non-profit organization? Would you like to learn more about grant funding? Join a local group on Thursday, Nov 9th from 10:15 am to 12:15pm (MST) in-person and online.
The meeting will focus on connecting to the Grant Connect Database and finding upcoming grant opportunities. The group discusses ways to develop partnership opportunities, collaborate on events, share resources & grants, and discuss grant writing best practices.
Any Bow Valley organizations who are in search of funding or grant opportunities are welcome to join! These meetings run on the second Thursday of each month. Save the date, the next meeting will be Dec 14th. Feel free to invite others who may benefit from this meeting.

Grant Funding Opportunities Applications Open Fall 2023
BOWDA 2023-2024 Charity of Choice – Expression of Interest (EOI)
Over the last 28 years BOWDA and its community-minded members have worked to support and give back to communities throughout Bow Valley. In the last decade alone, our members have generously raised over $410,000.00 for local charities and non-profits that have meaningful impact and help support positive change locally and beyond.

Applications close, Nov 3 at 5pm. All applicants will be contacted by Nov 16. The successful applicant(s) will be invited to the luncheon on Dec 14 at Silvertip Resort to share more about the great work they do and connect with our members as we raise funds that day.
To develop small care home environments for 4 to 14 residents. The program is comprised of multiple grant-funding streams to:
- develop continuing care capacity with Indigenous groups and organizations
- modernize existing facilities
- develop new spaces in priority communities
- develop small care home settings
* The deadline for submissions is extended until Nov 30, 2023
Community Economic Development and Diversification Program
Eligible project activities help develop and diversify the Canadian Prairies economy (Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba) and include:
- Community Development – activities to stimulate economic growth or diversification that capitalize on community capacity, strengths, and opportunities.
- Community Adjustment – activities to support Prairie communities facing economic shocks, challenging economic circumstances and/or depressed economic conditions.
- Inclusiveness – activities that help women, youth, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, official language minority communities and other underrepresented groups participate in the economy
Eligible applicants include incorporated not-for-profits, post-secondary institutions, First Nations and Métis Settlements, and provincial/municipal crown corporations.
The CEDD program generally provides non-repayable contributions by reimbursing costs that successful applicants have paid.
Alberta Ecotrust Environmental Impact Grant
Initiatives must take place in Alberta and align with one of the four focus areas:
- Nature-based Solutions & Conservation
- Climate Resilience & Emissions Reductions
- Circular Economy
- Overarching or Foundational

Employment and Social Development Canada
The pan-Canadian stream of the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) funds collective impact initiatives across Canada to increase the social inclusion of vulnerable seniors. Eligible organizations can apply for $1 million to $5 million. Projects should last between 4 to 5 years.
This process involves 2 steps. This first step is a competitive Call for concepts. If you succeed in step 1 of this process, you will be invited to step 2 to develop a full project proposal. Applications close Nov 14, 2023. For further information, please contact: [email protected]

Public Health Agency of Canada
This joint initiative is a partnership between the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) to support research opportunities entitled “Advancing Socio-Economic Research for Evidence-Informed Public Health Decision-Making” The overall goal of this joint initiative is to identify and advance socio-economic research for evidence-informed public health decision-making on selected public health priority topics in Canada. Women and Gender Equality Canada
Inflation and the rising cost of living further weaken women’s economic security and prosperity. Although more women have become leaders in some sectors, progress is slow. Barriers to women include harassment, discrimination, limited access to mentors and networks, and lack of flexible work arrangements. This call for proposals will support projects that seek to change these conditions. Since diverse women face multiple barriers, this call for proposals will therefore focus on projects that address this complexity. Applications close: Nov 3, 2023, at 1PM. A viable women’s movement in Canada is one that includes a diverse range of organizations and perspectives. Some women’s organizations continue to face challenges, particularly those who work with diverse women. Activities that build the capacity of these organizations will help them support women in the future. This call for proposals will support women’s and Indigenous women’s organizations. Global Affairs Canada
This Call is a 2-stage application process contributing to Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy. As a first step, eligible organizations are invited to submit Concept Notes that describe projects that will address the objectives of this Call. At the second stage, a limited number of organizations will be invited to submit a full proposal.
Deadline for submission of concept notes: you must submit your complete application package in the Partners@International portal before Nov 13, 2023. For further information, please contact: [email protected] by, Oct 26, 2023.
Non-profit organizations create their campaigns and invite supporters to share on social media and donate. The organization receives all of the donations raised, less third party payment processing fees and optional platform fees, whether they reach their funding goal or not. The Government of Alberta will match 30% of funds raised by an eligible campaign in its first 8 weeks on the platform.
Childcare Space Creation Grant
Open to non-profit groups and licensed family day home agencies interested in creating new child care spaces or expanding existing child care programs. Creation of spaces will be targeted in areas of high need and high demand for child care spaces through 4 funding categories:
- expanding or creating new licensed facilities in locations identified as child care deserts (communities where there is limited to no child care)
- existing and new family day home agencies creating spaces in child care deserts (communities where there is limited to no child care) and areas of high demand
- expanding existing licensed facilities where there is high demand
- new licensed facilities where there is high demand
Submissions are currently being accepted, no deadline is stated.
